What is that extra refrigerator or freezer costing you every year?

Are you willing to pay up to $100 a year to have extra refrigerator or freezer storage space? If you have a secondary fridge or freezer in your garage or basement manufactured before 1993, that’s exactly what you’re doing. If you’re looking to cut your energy costs and get rid of that old appliance, you can safely recycle it through the Refrigerator & Freezer Recycling Program. We’ll haul it away for free—and pay you $35!

Here’s how it works:

STEP ONE:

Determine Eligibility
Refrigerator or freezer must be:

• Used as a secondary, not primary, unit
• In working (cooling) condition
• Manufactured before 1993
• 10–27 cubic feet in size

Limit: Two refrigerators/freezers per customer, per program year.
Program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis to residential electric customers of the Ameren Illinois Utilities until funds for the program are exhausted.

As a service to our customers, we will also pick up and recycle any working room air conditioners when we pick up your old refrigerator or freezer. (No monetary incentive is offered, but we will haul away and recycle your room air conditioner for free.)

STEP TWO:

Schedule a Pickup
Call toll-free, 1-866-899-9088, 7 AM to 8 PM CST Monday through Friday or 9 AM to 5:30 PM CST on Saturday.

NOTE: This program is being rolled out at different times in the Ameren Illinois Utilities’ territories across Illinois. If you do not reside in a current pick-up area, we will put your name on a waiting list and contact you when the program reaches your area.

STEP THREE:

Receive your $35 rebate check and start saving on your energy bill!
After your appliance has been picked up, your rebate check will be mailed to you within six weeks.
